The Lizard technology differentiates itself from other technologies of the type in many different ways however the fundamental, key difference in the Lizard technology to others is the addition of multi-mode acquisition to the data set. This addition provides for a far greater level of analysis and display options than rival systems in the market place with the ability to increase scan sensitivity and adpat to differing material types. By utilising this data the Lizard technology is able to provide additional defect detection modes, increase sensitivity of data responses and provide a ‘lift off’ scan quality control indicator (ACFMt, FGI, EMA and Phase Plane with all data taken in one scan pass).

The addition of phase plane impedance within the probe array to the data set is especially important with open cracks which may display little or no Bz to the data set. Lizard system users can adjust the phase responses within the Lizard Inspection and Sizing Software by way of the unique Lizard Adjustment menu. This allows users to minimise the negative effects of ‘lift off’ by increasing the sensitivity but also to aid detection of defect events in both phase plane and other data plotting modes within the Lizard software suite. Individual Adjustments to the phase angle of both elements of the sensor allow for the Lizard to be configured to operate and interrogate different material types at the required frequency choice.
